Abstract

The relevance of this study lies in the fact that innovative methods of teaching foreign languages—namely, computer and multimedia technologies—increasingly motivate students to improve their speech skills. One of the education system’s objectives is to prepare students for life and how they perceive themselves in the modern world. Education must adapt to changing conditions; it cannot function in isolation from reality and, therefore, cannot function without modern technology. The spread of information and communication technology is changing the way people communicate with each other, obtain information, spend their free time and gain knowledge. Computers, MP3 players, DVDs, radio, television and the Internet transmit different types of information, including text, graphics, sound, video or images, and they can significantly support learners at any level of education. The use of these devices and technologies in schools is changing educational activities. The purpose of the study is to examine innovative methods of using computer and multimedia technology for foreign-language learning. The skilful use of modern methods makes it possible to change the existing concept of educational activities and, thus, their quality. Language itself is a creative unit, constantly evolving and encompassing the creation of new words. An innovative approach to language learning enhances its effectiveness and increases the attractiveness of the learning process for students. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine a sphere of life without access to computer networks. The emergence of modern communication technologies, the rapidly increasing volumes of information that computer servers store and the growing technical capacity to process and use it are having an increasing impact on the life of society. The study’s practical relevance lies in the effective use of innovative methods for learning foreign languages by incorporating computer and multimedia technologies in the process of educational activities.
