Open Access Policy (Online Edition)
The Journal of Linguistic and Intercultural Education (JoLIE) is primarily a print-based journal, published under a print ISSN. In addition, the journal maintains an online edition under a separate ISSN, through which selected content may be made available electronically.
JoLIE is currently undergoing a gradual transition toward broader Open Access availability, while maintaining editorial and financial sustainability.
Open-access articles
Only articles that are explicitly designated as open access on the journal website and in the article PDF are considered open-access publications.
Such articles are published in the online edition under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
Under this license, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, and adapt the material for non-commercial purposes, provided that:
-
appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and the journal,
-
a link to the license is provided, and
-
any changes made are clearly indicated.
Articles that are not explicitly marked as open access remain subject to standard copyright restrictions.
Delayed opean access and institutional support
In line with its transition strategy, JoLIE applies a delayed open access model for the online edition. Articles that are not made immediately open access may become freely available after an embargo period, subject to editorial and institutional conditions.
Immediate open access may be granted for individual articles where publication costs are covered through institutional support, including support provided by 1 Decembrie 1918 University of Alba Iulia or affiliated research projects.
Relationship to the print edition
The Creative Commons license applies only to the online version of articles that are designated as open access.
It does not affect the copyright status of the print edition.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
JoLIE does not currently charge any article processing charges (APCs) for submission, peer review, or publication, including for articles made available open access online.
Should APCs be introduced in the future for optional open-access publication of individual articles, full details of the applicable fees and conditions will be clearly announced on the journal website prior to implementation.
