Submission files

Authors must submit the following documents:

1. a title page, containing the article title, author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), corresponding author’s email address, ORCID (mandatory), and a short biographical note for each author (100–150 words);

2. an anonymised manuscript, containing the full text of the article but excluding author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), acknowledgements, identifying funding information, or any other information that could reveal the identity of the author(s); and

3. a submission declaration, in which the author(s) formally confirm that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, is not under consideration by another journal or publisher, and will not be submitted elsewhere while it is under review by JoLIE. The declaration must also state whether generative AI tools were used in the preparation of the manuscript and, where applicable, identify the tool(s) and briefly describe how they were used. This information will be included in the AI Use Disclosure section of the final article.

Please submit only these three Word documents and no additional files, preferably titled: 1. Title Page; 2. Anonymous Manuscript; 3. Submission Declaration.

 

Anonymisation requirements

Authors must remove names, affiliations, acknowledgements, identifying funding information, and other direct identifiers from the anonymised manuscript. Self-references should be written in the third person, in the same manner as references to other authors (e.g., “Black and Hart (2015) demonstrated…” rather than “we/the authors/Anonymous demonstrated…”). Do not replace self-citations or reference-list entries with “Anonymous.” Full reference details must be retained in the reference list to allow sources to be verified.

Peer-review process

JoLIE operates a double-anonymised peer-review process. All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with submission requirements, and basic standards of academic quality and integrity.

Authors are normally informed of the outcome of the initial editorial screening within 10 working days of submission.

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are evaluated by two external reviewers with relevant expertise.

Reviewers’ reports, including comments and recommendations, are communicated to the authors together with the editorial decision.

The time required for peer review and publication varies depending on reviewer availability, the extent of revisions required, the time taken by authors to submit revisions, and the publication schedule. Most manuscripts that successfully complete the peer-review and editorial process are published within approximately 4–8 months of initial submission. In exceptional cases, particularly where substantial revisions or additional rounds of review are required, the process may take longer.

Manuscripts returned with a decision of Resubmit after major revision undergo a new round of peer review and may be considered for publication in a subsequent issue. Failure to comply with revision deadlines, reviewer recommendations, or the journal’s style sheet requirements may result in rejection.

Use of generative AI in peer review

Submitted manuscripts are confidential documents. Reviewers must not upload a submitted manuscript, or any part of it, to a generative AI or AI-assisted tool. Generative AI must not be used to evaluate a manuscript or to replace the reviewer’s critical assessment and independent judgement. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the content of their review reports.

All accepted manuscripts undergo similarity screening using Turnitin prior to publication.

 

Additional editorial information

• Subissions should be sent to editor@uab.ro.
• JoLIE accepts manuscript submissions on a rolling basis and does not impose fixed submission deadlines. Manuscripts are processed as they are received and, upon successful completion of the peer-review and editorial process, are scheduled for publication in a forthcoming issue. Publication may therefore occur in the current or subsequent calendar year, depending on the completion of the issue.
